Thank you Mr. Larner for your post on Honor Roll. Our child was recently invited to be acknowledged for academic achievement by his sports club by proof of honor roll which I assumed our school did not have for the reasons you stated. Thanks again.

Reminders are appreciated, like “The 4th graders are starting their Pumpkin Run in 30 min, and the parking lot is full.” Or maybe “It’s raining hard here, so allow extra time for pickup/drop off.”
Hey I’d like to see “Don’t forget Market Day pickup is tonight!”

I believe elementary school children would benefit from a second language, even if it were for one day a week only instruction. While once a week wouldn’t be enough for the children to learn to speak, I believe it would develop their “ear” for foreign language. (I mean the ability to perceive the language and reproduce it sounding like a native.) My brother felt that a similar exposure he had when he was in elementary school allowed him to learn French more effectively once he was able to take it on a daily basis.

For me, more than one message a week, of a general nature, would be distracting. Beyond that, additional specific announcements would be fine as long as the contents were very clear in the subject line, such as “Reminder: Language Arts Night Tonight at 7pm.”

I think it would be nice if you’d send the Cougar Comments every week, because once every two weeks lets things creep up on me.
If you did it more often, it would probably be too much.
